Slow Play
These rules are designed to promote fast and fair play while keeping the game enjoyable for all pedants. Remember, golf is not meant to be fun, so let's keep it that way!
Gimmees are not acceptable in either the Masters and the Bombay Cup.
Think about your shot as you walk towards your ball, and aim to be 90% decided on how you'll play it by the time you arrive.
"Ready" golf is encouraged. If the group with the honour on the tee is not ready within a reasonable time, the others should hit their shots.
There is no walking back to hit a second ball. If there's a chance you've lost your ball, hit a provisional from the tee quickly.
Use common sense: if your score won't count or you'll get zero points on a hole, take a well earned break and pick up. If you're resting on every hole, keep playing but hurry up so others aren't waiting.
Three minutes is the maximum time allowed to look for a ball. If you can't find it, its fucked and move on.
Simple ways to speed up play include leaving your bag on the side of the green nearest the next tee, marking your card when waiting for someone else to hit, and having your club, ball, and tee ready to hit on the tee when it's your turn.
The Bombay Cup
Format of Play
The Bombay Cup will be played the day before the Beige Jacket Masters. This is a singles stableford competition, with each player receiving 100% of their course handicap by way of stroke allowance. The player returning the most stableford points over the 18 holes will be declared the winner. Ladies will play from the ladies tees and will calculate their stableford score on each hole based on the ladies card, with an appropriate adjustment to playing handicaps being made in accordance with Rule 6.2b of the R&A/USGA Rules of Handicapping (Calculation When Multiple Tees with Different Pars Are Used in a Competition).
In the Event of a Tie
Subject to permission from the hosting golf club, ties will be settled by a sudden-death play-off (rather than countback). Should permission not be granted by the club, there will be a putt-off.
The Bombay Cup is a walking event, with carts only permitted in case of legitimate medical necessity, or if the course mandates cart usage. There should rightly be a negative consequence for being a fat, lazy cunt.
The Beige Jacket Masters
The Draw
The draw for the Masters will take place after dinner on the eve of the event and will be conducted by the organiser(s) of the tour.
The players (not including the defending champions) will be divided into the Low Pot and the High Pot (with an additional player in the Low Pot in the event of an odd number of players).
Each pair will be chosen by selecting one player from the Low Pot and one player from the High Pot. In the event of an odd number of players, one player from the High Pot will be paired with two different partners, both from the Low Pot. Due to the increased chances of winning as a result of having two different partners, the player from the High Pot may have his/her handicap reduced at the discretion of the committee.
The reigning Masters champions will always be paired together, but are respectfully encouraged not to make any sort of realistic defence of their title.
